Our Story
Jay Bowen built his first website in 1994, while working as a freelancer, and that early work went on to earn special judges' recognition from the 10th District ADDY Awards. In 1996, he filed the paperwork to go out on his own, founding J. Bowen Creative Services, LLC, a general marketing and design shop taking on whatever creative work came through the door.
Web work was always part of the mix, and it was always the part nobody wanted: unglamorous, technical, detail-heavy work most shops were happy to hand off to someone else. Around 2009, we decided to lean into it fully. If nobody wanted to do the web grunt work, we'd be the ones who did it — and did it well.
That's the whole idea behind the name: we're the WebGrunts. We do the grunt work so you don't have to. These days, we've thrown AI into the mix too, so that grunt work gets done faster, smarter, and with better results than ever.

WebGruntz is led by Jay Bowen, an award-winning marketing and creative professional with more than 30 years of experience in branding, advertising, digital strategy, and communications.
A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Jay is a Google Certified Digital Marketer, holds an AI Marketing certification from Louisiana State University, and is a five-time Best of Show ADDY Award recipient.
His work blends creative thinking, emerging technology, and practical strategy to help organizations strengthen their brands and get results that actually move the needle.
